Billet Guidelines
The following is a quick list of guidelines to give you a basic idea of team, player, and host family expectations. If you have concerns or questions beyond this list, or would like to talk about hosting a player for the season, contact Laurie at bernie.laurie@sasktel.net
- Make the billets feel at home.
- Inform the billet of your house rules (internet use, telephone, anything specific he should know)
- Ensure suitable sleeping accommodations for your player and ensure his privacy
- Make sure you can provide three meals per day. It is not a requirement that you have to prepare the meals; but you must make sure food is available for them to prepare their own if that is the case.
- Laundry facilities must be provided; you ARE NOT responsible for your players laundry.
- When your billet is out, it is common courtesy for him to advise you, the host family, of his whereabouts and his expected time of return.
- Players making long distance calls should use their own calling card, or should be made collect. Host families are allowed to make other arrangements.
- You are not obligated to provide transportation for your player.
- If you are going away for a period of time and would like your player to stay elsewhere, please contact your billet coordinator.
- Please be up front about and allergies, medical conditions, pets, etc....
These guidelines are designed for the benefit of the player, the host family, and the ball club. Although presented in black and white, we realize that grey areas do arise. Remember that these are young men who have been on their own handling some of the things that their host will now do, and the transition to having someone look after them may be bumpy for the first while. If you have any questions, concerns, or are interested in hosting a player and would like to find out more, contact Laurie at the above email address, or call her at (h) 778-3349 or (c) 741-6773.
