The Swift Current Indians have the best record in the WMBL and are granted home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
A three run home run by Brent Trask early in the contest was all the offense the Indians would need to down the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express 3-0. John Snyder threw an amazing eight innings, striking out 10, and giving up only two hits and two walks.
In Yorkton, the Cardinals managed to hold off the Regina Red Sox, 2-1. The Indians win ends their season at 30-12 and Regina's loss leaves them at 29-13. Regina still has a better record than Okotoks, so that means the first place Indians move to the western division playoffs, and Moose Jaw moves to the east. As of writing, the final playoff spots have not been determined. Stay tuned to this site or www.wmbl.ca for the latest on the playoffs.
In what could end up being a Western Division playoff preview, the Okotoks Dawgs came to Swift Current for two games, and took the first game by a score of 5-2. An two out error early in the game proved costly as the Dawgs hit back to back homeruns account for four of their runs, and the Indians offense just couldn't find the holes in the Dawgs outfield. The second game of the set goes tonight at Mitchell Field, 7:05.

Take Me Out!!!
“Take Me Out to the Ball Game” is a classic, just as our Swift Current Indians Baseball team is. Where else can you go this summer to see great baseball, get ice cold refreshments and, of course, your diamond hot dog?
Let’s start with the facts:
* Since the team's re-inception back into the league the team has made the playoffs an unprecedented 23 times in 24 years
* Since 1989 the team has played in the championship final 14 times in 21 years (SMBL and WMBL)
* In the WMBL, the team has captured 6 consecutive division pennants in a row - no other team in the WMBL has done so.
* The team has won 9 League Championships since 1992 ('92, '94, '96, '97, '98, '00, '01, '05, and '06)
* Since the renaming of the league (2000) from the Saskatchewan Major Baseball League to the Western Major Baseball League Swift Current has played in the championship final in 8 out of past 10 years.
To be honest, we think we've said enough. But let’s go on: a beautiful park that has the never-ending care and attention from all of our volunteers and ball players, great prizes to be won at every game, and a place to bring the kids to safely run around and make some spending money. Don't forget the new and improved great in-game events that we have relentlessly have been working on to provide safe, fun and playful entertainment for your whole family.
